Sergei Nikitin – former director of Amnesty International in Moscow on Human Rights in Putin’s Russia – 8 April 2021 7pm

Sergei worked for Amnesty in Moscow for 14 years. He spoke with us about his experiences and the shrinking space for human rights in Russia and the countries of the former Soviet Union.

He also addressed recent developments, specifically the arrest of opposition leader Alexei Navalny and Amnesty’s response.

Lewes Amnesty Group is writing to Alexi Navalny in prison in Russia where he is on hunger strike. We are also writing to Amnesty’s International Secretariat asking them to clarify their position on Navalny’s status. If you would like to join us in this effort, use the contact form on the right.
